Artist Spotlight on ARTSY

Artist Profile by Artspace Warehouse

Thank you Artspace Warehouse for publishing this indepth and beautifully written spotlight feature on my painting practice and art career journey on ARTSY.

Below are some highlights from the artist spotlight, written and published by Artspace Warehouse, LA.

An Artistic Journey Rooted in Healing

Art has the power to heal, transform, and inspire. For Clara Berta, creativity is not just a career—it is a deeply personal journey shaped by loss, resilience, and an unwavering connection to nature. With a career spanning over two decades, her work continues to evolve, embracing minimalism, intuition, and an ever-expanding exploration of artistic techniques. In this spotlight, we delve into her inspirations, creative process, and the emotional depth behind her art.

A Creative Process Guided by Intuition

Rituals play a vital role in Berta’s creative practice. “I have a daily morning practice where I meditate, and that helps me start my day”. This is a moment of stillness that sets the tone for the work ahead. “Sometimes, I meditate before I start painting. It allows me to listen to my inner voice and intuition, which are essential in my creative process.”

Embracing silence allows Berta to connect deeply with her work. “I paint in silence. It’s important for me to be able to hear my thoughts and truly connect with my work.” Over time, she has learned to trust her instincts. “I have to learn when to stop, sometimes I have overworked a painting and then I step back and I realize, slow down. Breathe. Let the painting breathe as well.”

One of the most exciting developments in her artistic process has been the discovery of a unique pouring technique. “It happened by accident,” she recalls. “I had a bucket of dirty paint and didn’t want to throw it away. I decided to recycle it, and something magical happened.” Since then, pouring has become a fundamental part of her practice, a way to embrace spontaneity while continuing to explore new techniques.

Art as a Force for Connection and Healing

For Berta, art is more than just a form of expression—it is a way to create dialogue, foster emotional connections, and bring joy into the world. Looking ahead, she aspires to create large-scale works for hotels and museums, expanding the reach of her vision.

“I want my work to make a difference. To create an impact,” she affirms. “What matters most to me is the emotional connection—knowing that my art has moved someone, that it has sparked a conversation or evoked a feeling.”

Through every brushstroke, every layer of paint, and every moment of reflection, Clara Berta’s work continues to embody the transformative power of creativity. It is an invitation—to heal, to explore, and to embrace the beauty of the unknown.
